Oil change service for low mileage NX
I purchased my 16 N X in Nov 2015 and have only hit 700 mi since then. The Lexus dealer called me to schedule the complementary 5k oil service recently, but I was wondering if I could extend the time out a bit given the low miles or should I go in at the 6mo. mark as suggested?
With oil viscosity, is it compromised more with time or with miles?

I think the 5K service is for tire rotation and checkup . Oil change is at 10k . I would wait till the Maintenance Minder to go on which might be after one year. Give the dealer a call since those services are paid for by Lexus. You can learn more about it at bobistheoilguy.com

Yeah, we just have our 5k service no oil change just check up and tire rotation. Its every 10k miles for oil change.

Mine had 2500 miles after 7 months when took it for the service, only 4 months left to be a year, and I don't think it will be at 5k by that time. I think time is a factor too definitely not going to wait 2yrs to do the oil change.

Low mileage
Dang Jay! I thought I didn't drive my NX much! I've had it since the end of Dec. & I'm at only 1370
miles. I know when I go in for the 5K / 6 month service ,I'll prob. only have about 2500, so when the 10K / 1 year comes around, I'll prob. only have about 5000-5500 miles! They can change the oil then, because I don't think that 0W-20 oil should run longer than that. Cheap insurance , if you ask me. I've always changed oil, even synthetic oil by 6K miles. But each to their own!
