The 245's need an 8" wheel, the 20" NX wheels will take a tire from 7.5" to 8.5" so everything works fine. There are a lot of 245/50R20s and they cost a lot less than the few 235/50R20s.
Yeah exactly why I'm keen to change, would prefer a wider tyre too.

I have replaced already two of the original Alenza A/S 02 tire - one at 8k and one at 9k. One of them became flat, the other has a side bulge, not covered by warranty (blamed on pot hole by the dealer)
So they do seem weaker than other tires, it is true I drive to Tahoe in snow and ice, and really there is no good replacement if you want to keep run flats.

If you switch them to 245s like 43sbest suggested, you can keep the run flats and get Bridgestone Driveguards -- at least you get a 60 or 70K warranty and probably better traction. Not sure about the ride quality but then again, I don't have a problem with my FSports ride or noise.

The fact is the way run flat tires are made results in a more harsh ride than most non run flat AS tires. Manufactures don't just brand a tire "run Flat" out of the blue. The sidewall of all run flats is much more rigid than a non run flat, that's why they "run flat" -----------if your lucky. Cut a sidewall and your run flat will start to come apart if you travel a short distance just like a non run flat. When you have a flat with a run flat try to find a tire shop that stocks any-----------they don't because they can't sell them. You can pay $120,000 for a 23 LS500 and it's going to have the same Bridgestone's as the NX.
BMW probably started the run flat craze but now they offer non run flat options.
If you ( or any other NX owner) are happy with the run flats that's great. I don't have a problem with anyone that likes the run flats so why do you have a problem with NX owners that don't?

Have a great evening
For me it's an issue with the tire life. I'm in the dealer now for a 20k service and being told I need new tires at 350 each plus the other fees. 20k? GTFO. No way i'm paying close to $1500 for 20k of mileage. I'll get something else that will get more mileage and cost alot less. I'm sure all the comments about the ride of no flats being harsher is true due the technology but it's all about the mileage.

This is the problem with getting tires at this price from the dealer. That is double retail, especially for crap tires, and they only feel more emboldened to rape people when they get takers. Maybe you are talking CAD$, but still not competitive. You shouldn't be worn out at that mileage either, but obviously I can't see, hope you got an x/32nds on your inspection service sheet.

Since the run-flats don't last as long, I will probably be getting regular tires when the time comes (at 5000 miles now). Would it make sense to get a tire repair kit since we don't have any spares?

Yeah, just to be an the safe side, also get a tire inflator, so you can just top off if needed or there is a small leak, I also bought myself something like this to fix a hole quickly if necessary -> https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806295208777.html
Also remember that you might need to have a car jack and wheel wrench in your car in case you need to take the wheel off

I also wonder if I can just replace them directly? do I need to re-programming TPMS?

Thank you all in advance
if you are going for run flats and u dont want Michelin Run flats, Best bet is either bridgestone, pirelli or Dunlop

Looks like you revived an old thread, but I'll throw my 2 cents in:

Having owned many different tires, the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 is my top pick.

Although not considered an all weather tire, it performs just as good(or almost) as something like the Cross Climate 2 in most scenarios. In the snow, Tire Rack testing shows it's not even far behind the CC2 in that category either. All that performance while still being quiet, super smooth, comfortable. Treadwear is also pretty good, and you don't have deal with the weird aggressive directional tread patterns. The tire is a masterpiece, IMO.

I would already have them on my RX if it didn't get stuck with the 21" wheels and their weird tire size.(It drives me nuts why Toyota/Lexus does this)

Pirelli is definitely a top top brand, but it's not really common where I'm from, so it's just mostly Michelin, Bridgestone or dunlop

IMO you can't go wrong with Michelin Cross Climate as your 'regular' replacement. There's warehouse stores across the nation carrying 235/50/20 Cross Climate tires, if you're ever away from home base and need a replacement.

The cons (probably discussed in multiple threads already): Loss of 10% gas mileage, and although I don't think they're noisy I know some folks who do.

The pros (in my experience, since last November): Decreased stopping distance, much improved cornering, much improved bad weather performance.

It's aggravating me that they haven't released the Michelin CC3s in the States yet...

If they don't by next spring, when I have to replace my tires, I might have to look into Michelin PS A4S as an alternative.

I got an email from Michelin yesterday announcing the CC3’s in the UK. When I put my tyre size in 235/50/R20 it said they are not available for that size. Good job I am happy with my second set of Bridgestone RFT’s 😋
