Default How does Intelligent High Beam work?

My NX350 is equipped with the Triple-Beam LED Headlamps with Intelligent High Beam. I noticed the high beam stays on in a dark neighborhood even when cars are coming from opposite side of the road. I don't want to be an inconsiderate driver so I turned off the auto high beam. There isn't much description on Lexus.ca that describes the function of the Intelligent High Beam. The manual has a section on "adaptive high-beam system" and saying the car uses a camera to detect vehicles ahead and adjust the high beam not to shine on them. Do you guys know how this works?

Current North American market Lexus models use the Forward Recognition Camera that is part of the Lexus Safety System.
The elaborate headlight cluster sensor array shown in the UK video was used in the LS 600h's starting in 2007.

Excerpt from TIS:
The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) detects a high beam headlight illumination request signal of the automatic high beam system from the forward recognition camera
Automatic High Beam Camera - Malfunction in forward recognition camera - Front camera system - Main Body

I turned it off. Dealer set it on when delivered the car. But when I got home and drove in my area, it always turned on the high beam and got flashed twice by cars from other direction.
