Kind of a different Bluetooth Question....
We've been using a Bluetooth speakerphone that mounts on the visor because the call quality using the car's system is horrible. I just tried to connect the phone back to the car with Bluetooth so we could use Android Auto's maps since we have the small screen and don't get navigation for free. There's a Bluetooth setting to enable using Android Auto and to deselect using phone and media. When these are deselected I'd expect that we'd then be using Bluetooth on the car for Android Auto but continue to use Bluetooth for the speaker on the visor but it's not working that way. When I connect the car to the phone with the above mentioned settings, phone calls go through the car. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing and whether it's possible to make calls through the speaker on the visor yet use Android Auto on the car's screen? For those that also go to Club Lexus, I apologize for the duplication but we need to try and get this set up for a small trip in the morning. Thanks!!
This would be a phone setting not something you could set on the car. AA likes to control everything sound-wise since Bluetooth is required for it to operate. You may be able to go to the call screen in AA and click on the bluetooth icon and choose handset. Once it's sent to your phone, you would have to find a way to choose the output somehow and set it to your speaker.
Not sure if this would help in practice but thought I'd throw it out there.....
Fairly modern Android phones can connect to more than one Bluetooth device at the same time so in theory you could have your phone connect via Bluetooth to the car for Android Auto and have a second connection to the speakerphone for your calls. I believe you would need to adjust the Bluetooth settings for the speakerphone connection to allow for Calls. I guess the only potential issue here would be if Android Auto doesn't relinquish it's control over audio (i.e. phone calls).
