450h+ / Rav4 Prime Different Maintenance?
The R4P says to use 0W-16 (or 0W-20 if...)
The 450 says to change the brake fluid every 30k miles.
That never shows up in the R4P (up to 120k).
Seems crazy to change so often if you drive sensibly. I thought maybe they want you to change it because they expect you to use your brakes much less frequently vs ICE; but, if the R4P never recommends...?
R4P says to "Fill air conditioner refrigerant" at 80k.
That never appears in 450 (up to 150k).
(Paid for my 450 today... it's nearby in "Ground Transportion". Finance guy pushing the extended service said the 30/60/90... service costs $1050... yikes... is that right? Because of the brake fluid replacement?)

The 450h+ says to use 0W-20 (or 5W-20 if...)
The R4P says to use 0W-16 (or 0W-20 if...)
But these use the same engine? Is this one the reasons the R4P is more efficient?

Seems sensible to use 0W-20 for presumably better protection; but, I'm not worried about brake fluid every 30k.

2-3 years between brake fluid changes is pretty normal, you probably don't want to go longer than that. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and contaminants that get into the system and eventually gets 'saturated' and can't do it anymore. Not sure why the R4P doesn't show a change at 36K, might be relying on the tech eyeballing the color....not really the best way to gauge it.

Even when the brake fluid is saturated with moisture it has a sufficiently high boiling point for anything but extreme braking. IIRC The Car Care Nut recommends no more frequent than 60k... and even said don't worry about it unless you plan to keep your car ~15 years. His concern was corrosion, I believe.

I'm less concerned with function on the brake fluid than contamination. I used to changes myself every 2-3 years on our cars and what came out was generally a bit ugly looking, but then again motor oil also starts looking bad well before it actually goes bad and you really can't tell w/out testing. I do tend to be overly cautious on fluid changes, I always plan to own my cars longer then I end up doing so, but just in case. Relatively minor cost in the grand scheme of things. I just did an early oil change on my 450 at about 900 miles, probably close to 500 or so on ICE. Came out with far fewer metal shavings than our previous cars, an RCF and IS350. The color was a bit odd, hopefully they're not using some break in mix these days.

Are you expecting to remain at ~50% EV miles?
I think I'll go with six months. I'm expecting pretty high EV%.
