40+ mpg impossible without driving everyone around you crazy
Sorry, but I do not see how to get even near 40 without coasting when everyone around you is accelerating, without having the lowest acceleration from stop setting that everyone behind you will be all over your ***, etc.
I am not in a hurry, and I am willing to drive very conservatively to achieve this goal, but it’s nerve-racking because of everyone around me.
I saw one person posting that 95% of their driving was EV, I don’t know how that’s possible either.
Having said all that I do love this car!

We are having the exact same experience. “Normal” driving: 38-39 mpg. “Old Lady” driving: maybe 40-40.5. We’re just driving normal and happy with getting close to the EPA rating. On another thread, I mentioned that we did have a hard time getting up to 38-39 initially in the first 2000 miles. It seemed to plateau at 34. But when we manually calculated it, it was in the upper 30s. After resetting the trip/mpg, it settled in the upper 30s. For some reason, the Lexus calculation included some very low mpg readings into the initial running average. We’re now at 5000 miles and it is very consistent at 38-39.
To add another data point, I took delivery of my 350h last Friday (July 22), and just filled up my tank for the first time yesterday. For my very first tank of gas, I got 36.9 mpg (US not Imperial), and most of those were highway miles, so very close to the EPA 37 mpg highway figure. If mileage improves a bit as the car breaks in, I think I'm going to be quite happy, even if I don't break 40 (which I "shouldn't" based on the EPA numbers).
I will add that I am making a lot of use of the adaptive cruise control, which I expect is giving me about the best possible efficiency.

YMMV,
MidCow3.
Yes that’s what they say, so I drove in the city for about 30 minutes not using cruise control of any kind the entire time driving so slowly and carefully that everyone around me didn’t like it, and I managed to get right around 41. This involved coasting a lot more than I normally would etc.
i'm 1800km in (so like just under 1200 miles) and average 6L/100km of probably 50/50 split between hwy/city which is 39.2 MPG.. this is me drivving normally so i can easily get better (or worse) if i tried either for better or worse mpg.
you'll get worse mpg if you use adaptive cruise a lot since it accelerates pretty quickly to get back upto set speed after slowdown and it brakes later than i normally would and very little coasting

In theory, whether you have the base 18" wheels or the premium 20" wheels may also have an effect on fuel economy, as might the tires, though I suspect anyone with a '22 NX 350h is still on the factory installed models unless they're real car nuts.
Mine the 350H is 20 inch.
I paddle shift down one or two clicks when coming to a red light or slow traffic (NX350h). I assume this charges the battery. Am I right or should I be using the brakes for regeneration? I'm getting great mpg so far (43,47,42).
