That is the most, and first, encouraging word I've heard on the subject! Do you carry a backup, or rely totally on the digital?

Just was allocated a RX premium and had a question about the “$275 digital key” option. Digital Key was not an option listed on the build sheet ... so does this mean I will not have that option when the vehicle finally arrives next month? Is it a feature I can add at the local dealership, or is it production line option that needs to be configured at the factory?

 

At the dealership, they were unable to set it up for me due to weak signal(cellar signal was full 5G+) so i came home still unable to set it up.

 

Setup I believe requires both phone and car to each individually have good signal to reach Lexus mother ship servers. Car only has 4G capability, not sure which carrier networks they are able to use.

 

It's my understanding it's a hardware/software install and can't be added after delivery. You'd have to confirm that.

 

Typically, with these cars you get what it is being shipped with and that's that. If it is some dealer installed item like Scotchgard or some additive type thing you can negotiate, but not factory installed items. You are actually lucky on the NX 350h Luxury I paid $450 for Lexus Digital Key, SmartAccess Keycard and Wireless Charger. None of which I use.

With the inability to actually place an order, and the hybrid in scarce supply, it is a take it or leave it right now. If you pass it will go to the next guy on the waiting list.
