I called my Lexus dealer. I'm taking my car in tomorrow to get checked and fixed. They had to check with the parts department to make sure they had the parts available (not sure what parts). Anyway they will take care of the missing spot weld recall and give me a loaner car to drive. On the other recall notice about the stability control system, they said this is an interim notice and they aren't doing anything about that one at this time.

Interesting that they say they have a fix when the notice pretty much says TBD.

For the spot welds recall, the potentially affected cars were manufactured through late 1/2022.

Right now dealers can inspect cars to look and see if the weld spots are present in the front and back shock mounts. No fix yet exists if they're missing, but at least, if you get the notice, the dealer can check if you have the proper welds or not.

"For all involved vehicles, Lexus dealers will inspect the welding near the shock absorber mounting area. For vehicles with missing spot welds, Lexus is currently developing the remedy and it will be announced at a later date." ~4,300 cars potentially affected.

Also, I seem to remember I've gotten my tank filled during previous recalls, I suspect you'll get that for this, but you could ask to check.

No fix yet for either recall. They inspect the spot welds and take pictures to check if there's a problem. Must be an easy check, they're estimating 45 minutes to do the work including pictures.

I'm wondering if you can see welds from above or below?

NX's in Japan have been produced at two plants indicated by a 5 or a 2 in the VIN. I wonder if it's a plant-specific issue.

Found a Japanese site talking about the recall and there is a pic showing the possible locations of welding spot.

https://response.jp/article/2022/04/...82%8B%E3%80%82

Google translate:On April 13, Toyota Motor Corp. reported a recall (collection / free repair) to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, saying that there was a problem with the electronic stability control (VSC) and body of 11 models such as the " Harrier ."

The target models are Toyota "Harrier", "RAV4", "RAV4 PHV", "MIRAI", "Land Cruiser", Lexus "NX350h", "NX450h +", "LS500h", and "LX600" with VSC defects of 87,609 units. There are 3419 body defects in the four Lexus "NX250", "NX350", "NX350h" and "NX450h +" models. Of these, 2867 will be subject to both defects, so the total number of vehicles to be recalled will be 88,161 manufactured from April 28, 2020 to April 4, 2022.

Since the control program is inappropriate for VSC, if the system is restarted after the system is stopped while the brake pedal is depressed while the VSC function is off, the function will not return to the on state. Therefore, the off indicator light may turn on and the VSC may not operate. As a remedy, the program of the control computer for all vehicles and brake actuators will be revised to the countermeasure specifications.

As for the body, there is a case where welding is not performed in the vicinity of the shock absorber mounting portion in the engine room due to improper setting of the welding equipment. Therefore, if the vehicle is used as it is, cracks will occur, and in the worst case, the running stability may be impaired. As a remedy, check all vehicles for welding near the shock absorber mounting part, and if not, weld. If any damage is found in the area, repair it.

No malfunctions or accidents have occurred. Discovered based on information from within the company.

So you got the recall notice? Ours is a 450h and also plant #2, built 1/22, but no weld recall notice. Only other thing I could think of was F-Sport vs. non due to different shocks. Ours is an F-Sport, what is yours?

Since we got our car 2/26, I'm guessing it was made around the middle of January, but the problem supposedly went through late January.

Here's the model to date table for potentially affected cars:

Model Name Model Year Production Period
NX 250 2022 Late May 2021 – Late January 2022
NX 350, NX 350H, NX 450H+ 2022 Early April 2021 – Late January 2022

Awesome, thank you! I looked under the hood this morning but had no idea what to look for....Lots of welding around the top of the shock, very neat. But I was looking a little too high per that photo.
