Just checked mine and it doesn't lift the tire off the ground because it only extends 15 inches. I email Modern Tire and will call them tomorrow.

Good Lick guys.

Please let us know what is said. Could it be an issue between 18” and 20” tires?

Modern Spare got back with me. They had recently redesigned the 4,000 jack to fit inside the wheel. However, the redesign only goes 15 inches high and will not raise the NX wheel off the ground. They offered me two solutions: (1) I could use a board under the jack I have and they would send me $20 or (2) they would send me an older design jack, but still new unused, that would extend the 17.25 inches and raise the NX wheel off the ground. I chose the later and they are sending me a new jack today. The older design jack will not fit in the case.

Modern Spare said they have just recently became aware of this issue; I think from Club Lexus forum members.

Good Luck.

Modern Spare promptly responded to my inquiry, too. They will be sending me a replacement jack and wheel.

For those who are considering placing an order, Modern Spare stated they recently:

"Discovered that the jacks that are sent with the Lexus kits are not tall enough and we are switching jacks so this doesn't continue to happen."

"Switched systems on how we store our tools and we are working on fixing those flaws so the wheels don't continue to keep getting damaged in shipping."

I tried mine today as well...not enough to lift the wheel. I called Modern Tire and they are sending a new jack. I offered to send the jack back but they said it would cost more to ship so I'm keeping it. Appreciate the prompt customer service.

Thanks to MidCow3 for alerting us to this - would have been really awkward to have actually needed this and come up short...literally.

Received the new jack yesterday and it fits just fine in the bag. The one that was originally sent is much better quality than that in our 2006 Mazda MX-5 so may be switching it out if it fits. Great customer service!

I think that member was me . I emailed them on 11/07 stating the problem with pictures showing the jack fully extended while the tire was still on the ground. I asked to purchase the wheel only (after making sure the wheel fitted) but they went above my expectations by giving a big discount, sending new jack and better lug wrench (the lug wrench sent with the wheel did not fit properly causing dents to original wheel). Of course they did not ask to mail back the old jack and old lug wrench. Great customer service!

Is Modern Spare the only vendor available for the Space Saver tire in the 18” NX 350h?

Lightbulb Spare Tire size picture

Here is the spare tire in the trunk of the NX. Some space left and you can pile items on top of the spare.

As an aside, the newly provided jack fits perfectly in the place provided under the back hatch area, with the ratchet and other tools in the tool bag fitting adjacent.

Toyota/Lexus sell many vehicles that have compact spares in 18 inch size. Does anybody know how to figure out which ones might fit the NX? I figure buying a Toyota spare might be cheaper than buying an aftermarket one.
