Lexus NAV subscription over
I tried to find an answer by searching the site but did not get anywhere useful... I hope I did not miss it. If there is a thread about this can you point me there?
Since a few days ago, my Lexus Navigation app subscription is over after the 3 free years. I never used it before as, after trying it a few times, I really did not like it, Goolge Map or Waze were way better in my opinion. I used Waze instead. When I was starting my car it would go directly to the Waze screen via android auto. But now that my subscription is over, I get a nagging screen offering to subscribe each time I start the car and I have to manually select Waze to start it! Is there a way to permanently bypass that login nagging screen? Thanks! |
I am sure LSFT will know the answer. He just posted a video on how he is going to not renew the Nav Subscription as his expired.

Thanks!

It is not a deal breaker, just a minor inconvenience. If someone ever finds a workaround it will be nice to know about it!

This really pisses me off. On my car for some reason it never goes to CarPlay automatically.
It really is very tacky and very cheap for a premium brand like Lexus to do this. They should be far more professional about it. This is the kind of thing that will make me look at other brands when I next switch cars. |

Plug in you iPhone to the CarPlay active port to go directly to CarPlay; I am sorry if this doesn't work on NX, basing this on my primary Lexus/Toyota car, which normally supersedes the storage mostly NX.

Mine from time to time would automatically open up CarPlay. It's not 100% of the time. I have never looked at the scenarios when it will not and when it will. Might have to look into it.
I would say though it's much better than some folks who does not even connect at all. Definitely not ideal and there are two apps that are involved and I do not know which one is at fault. CarPlay or Lexus Interface. |

Again a bug/inconvenience on Lexus side.
There should be a preference screen in the Lexus interface settings... "Start Screen", where you can choose your preferred screen for the UI to start to when the car is turned on. You should be able to choose for example: "Navigation", "Audio", etc... i.e. default Lexus interface start screen. Then there should be a toggle on/off below it with something like "Switch to CarPlay/Android Auto when a mobile device connects". So then you can choose, for example to have the default Lexus screen be Audio, but then have it automatically switch to CarPlay or Android Auto once your phone connects. It'd be so easy for them to code this in and deploy it to everyone. No reason they can't, apart from either not wanting to for some dumb internal reason (wanting to ram their own stuff down everyones throat, wanting people to go buy a new car for any sort of new feature, even though they could give it to us), not caring, or just general incompetence (their programmers are actually really bad). |
Apple Car Play

CarPlay or Lexus Interface. However, if I open the car with the key fob (paired to my profile) in my pocket and have my iPhone with me and then power on, the system always recognizes me and starts Apple CarPlay automatically. Now, when my wife gets in the car to drive with her key fob (which is not paired to a profile) and iPhone she needs to go to settings, bluetooth and select her iPhone profile and the infotainment screen will start with CarPlay. |
Navigation screen

We never had the free navigation because we bought a model with the smaller screen. I'll admit I never looked too hard because we always keep the screen off, but I'm not sure you can make it go away. Hopefully I'm wrong and this thread can tell us how to get rid of it.
