Phantom Braking

Yes, we have a similar problem with our 2025 NX450h+ suddenly braking when we are backing out of our car port. It's on a rather steep upward slope so maybe the rearview camera sees the rising slope as an obstacle. In fact, I've had the same false braking occur with my other car when backing out of the same car port. And yes, its is rather scary!

I'm just glad to know it's not just me. Frustrated that it's happening though.

Now that you mention the steep slope. I am always backing out of my driveway with a steep slope. Maybe you are on to something there.

Mine happened while reversing on a downward slope, right where the street levels me off, yours?

The manual does refer to changes in slope and also if the roadway texture changes (like going from concrete to asphalt or gravel) as the reflectivity will change. Both these can confuse the sensors.

Mine is at the part of the driveway that has a much steeper downslope than the rest of the driveway. I mean my driveway is on a slope anyway but it happens where the slope is much more pronounced.
