Which Air Filter?
Was on vacay until wildfires cut the trip short. Now my cabin smells like smoke so I’m gonna change the filter. I don’t see the right fit on Amazon or the LSFT site. Any leads on where to buy a replacement air filter?
I would agree, especially if you are trying to eliminate odors, the OEM cabin filters generally have much better activated charcoal layer even though they'll generally cost more than the ones on Amazon. The 3rd party (or counterfeit) Amazon ones will often have no charcoal layer, or that it merely came close to charcoal during its manufacturing. I see two parts listed for the cabin filter, one as Tun stated but another as 87139-58010 (which is also the RAV4 cabin filter). Both these filters are also used in many different Toyota models too. Just for fun I looked up the parts on a Toyota Lexus dealer near us. The same part for the NX450h+ that is also the same for the RAV4 Prime is more expensive, LOL. Go to the Toyota dealer perhaps...
0E040 is made in USA and has more charcoal content.
58010 is made in Japan and has slightly less, but still good.
Toyota dealers may be cheaper, but often doesn't include free shipping like Lexus does, which sometimes makes Toyota even more expensive.

I buy on Amazon any well known brand with charcoal that is half the price of the Toyota filter. Change once a year and take out after 6 months and blow it out with leaf blower.

I recently changed my cabin filter back in Fall and I was 'snookered' by my Lexus dealer.
original equipment part is: 871390E040 .This is the one that came in my car from the factory and had like 20-30% more pleats in it, plus was very grey looking indicating more charcoal present.
They 'claimed' the above part number was 'superceded' with this number: 87139YZZ93 which I've come to know now as an economy or value filter Toyota offers. Less pleats lighter shade of grey and about $10 cheaper. It was flimsy and not as snug a fit as the one I removed. See pic at bottom. For me the additional $10 is well worth it.
If you see AZ or YZZ in the Toyota part number it's an economy part.
If the part number ends in a -84 it is a remanufactured part from Toyota. Toyota does sell remanufactured steering racks for older cars that use hydraulic steering. They have become very problematic over the last few years and are not of same quality they use to be.
Here's another good video to watch from Car Care Nut explaining quite a few good pieces of information about after market parts and their quality levels compared to Toyota OE parts. Even known Japanese Original Equipment Suppliers like Denso, Aisin, KYB, Advics etc.
See time stamp around 22 minutes where he discusses economy Toyota Parts
In my photo Left is economy part, Right is OE. I checked in store and the economy part looks just like a FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter.

The best filters for any car I found is from PureFlow, I buy all my filters for any car only from them now
They have 2 versions, one is HEPA the other is normal, and all their filters have charcoal, backing soda, antibacterial, and particulate layers all in one filter.
