Lexus NX and RX are highly touted to be a stolen SUV in the market. I’m assuming that also has something to do with the higher rates..

I pay around $485 every six months, for about the same coverage. I do not drive that many miles.

I have similar overall premium for my 2024 RX450H+ in California - this is after I shopped around and switched. If you look at the current inflation breakdown, even though the overall is ~3 %, the strongest contributor category is auto insurance at around ~ 20+ %. And that's for overall US - its significantly higher inflation for states like Florida or California where there are more climate and congested-traffic related risks. Pretty horrendous - and will have to constantly shop around and switch with this trend expected to continue all of 2024.

I just switched from state farm $930 six months of full coverage to Liberty mutual $2300 for six months. Why? I live in south florida which is like a third world country when it come to shady habits that people come with their culture, state farm and their ****ty adjusters driving vehicles they cant afford will get aftermarket parts and used parts to fix your vehicle in case of an accident. Here it's common to have hit and runs or someone without insurance. Liberty mutual offers an "OEM Endorsement" that you can put on your policy and it they can't BS with used or aftermarket parts. I have the LUX model and i don't even want to know how much one of those headlights would cost.

I'm in southern Ontario Canada and by the looks of things our coverages are a little different than USA. We typically are insured for 1 or 2 million for liability and damages and not 100 to 500 thousand. But guess what, I've been driving for over 40 years with nothing on my record in the last 25 plus years and we're paying just under $1,300 a year (CDN). and from '22 to '23 it went up 34%. My policy expires in December so I'm getting a little worried what's coming next. Our agent said it was basically the astronomical increase in auto thefts in Ontario and Quebec over the last year.

I got a quote on Progressive.com and my rates for 3 vehicles (24 NX, 19 RX, 24 Rav4) are over $1100 higher than State Farms. State Farms may not use OEM parts as @Jeff718 mentioned and what I heard is true also.

So I switched to Farmers from Amica after the latter's rate went up 45 % in February. For Farmers, they have an option to ensure using OEM parts - one can choose to pick that option. One thing good about Farmers I've found is that they allow tweaking the policy quite a bit to your needs/likes, and they operate such that you have the same human (an agent) you interact with when tweaking or customizing your coverage. With Amica, I called in their 1800, all in and would get a different person each time, with very opaque rates - and they didn't let me customize online either. The reason it matters especially now is that with extreme inflation in insurance it makes sense to stay in top of options/coverage regularly - as the rates are all based on actuarial models each provider has internally and every insurer's risk model (and therefore their charge to us for it) is all over the place because each of their historical profit and loss varied widely based on how poorly they chose their historically insured demographic (and suffered losses).

I got hit (not the NX) by an uninsured driver. I had to use my State Farm policy. The repair called for steering components from Silly Sam's Scrap yard and Jumping Joes Junk yards....and any scarp iron dealer that had a part that could be hacked onto the vehicle. I sold the car to the body shop. If you have an accident and it's substantial/not your fault hire an attorney. Let them handle the ordeal. You'll get nowhere on your own.

I had a major ,major wreck in the NX with an uninsured , unregistered (car was not registered) motorist. They ran a red light at 50 mph and we collided my right front bumper to their left front bumper. The wreck pushed me sideways 2 1/2 lanes and turned me 90 degrees. I had two police officers behind me and they were witnesses. However, it was in the sheriff's jurisdiction and since he did not see the running of the red light, the sheriff only cited the other party for uninsured for uninsured and unregistered. I have State Farm and they replaced all parts with genuine Lexus and it is now as good as new. I even got subrogation and got back all but $250 of my deductible. I also got a generous ( maximum allowed) diminished value from State Farm.

Now for the good karma ... I got notice for the court hearing of the other driver to keep or lose driver's license. I went to the hearing and and the at fault driver has to work out a payment plan with State Farm to pay back the full loss amount. If they default, they lose their driver's licenses.

YMMV,

Glad you are ok.
We got our Camry parked (nobody inside) hit on the street in Feb. We didn't do diminished value since many people said it's only $1K in money and it's hard to get any $$ with court case. Is that true?

To walk out of a vehicle after an accident is worth a million. The air bags go off in slow motion. Hopefully you were ok. State Farm did everything to delay and skimp my repair... I'm more concerned with SF Homeowners... some horror stories from those that got severe hurricane damage. Anyway... accident not my fault. Cleared by police...but a deadbeat passenger in the hitters car and her husband that was not in the car tried to sue me. Everyone keep good high coverage... in life when you are right you are wrong. They will do everything they can to get into your pocket.

Sorry about your accident and what you had to go through. I was okay sprained thumb and minor air bag rash. Take care.

P.S. - Yes, State Farm delayed approvals , but what was great my Lexus guy keep pounding them and also would find more damage and then more damage. There must have been 5 or 6 revised estimates as the car was fixed.

The agent says "it's because it's a newer car," which doesnt seem logical to me (safer, parts are more readily availible and I believe Lexus/Toyota is rated much higher in reliability and safety than GM). I looked at Geiko too, they're the exact same quote of 230/month. How is it possible, to go to a car with half the HP, tripple the safety features, it's not a cop magnet, only a 4 cylinder and yet cost so much more in insurace. I'm just at a loss for words here, doesnt make any sense.
gosh, that is high. My State Farm agent quoted me $527.41 for six months on a 2025 NX350h. I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. That’s only about $80+ more than my 2024 NX350.
