What does 'Total Average Fuel Economy' mean on NX350h
Can someone explain how the Total Average Fuel Economy in the steering wheel console is calculated? I have 1200 pages of user manual, but that is no help here.
That value is always quite different (usually much lower) than the Trip Summary Fuel Economy and the (utterly useless) bar charts on the big display screen.
E.g. I just did a 12 mile trip in town and the summary showed 36.7 MPG while the Total Average Fuel Economy showed 32.1 MPG. Which is correct?

Thanks Midcow. The post you mentioned did not answer my question, but it did point me in a direction, and I think I figured it out.
The Total Average Fuel Economy is the fuel economy since the Vehicle History was last updated. You can reset it on the large display screen by going to Vehicle | Trip Information | History and clicking “Update”.

It's the running average of your total MPG Average since you owned the car.. If you don't mess with it on the big screen system...it will let you know minute to minute what your running average is. Forever...you can find other readings in other locations, e.g. current trip average, etc. Hope this helps.
