Default Wireless CarPlay issue with Spotify

I just picked up a 2024 NX350h about a couple weeks ago and having some issues with CarPlay. I have only used it wirelessly and not plugged in so not sure if the problem is just with wireless or not.

The issue is I'll get in the car and it'll automatically connect but there would be no sound. The track is playing on both the screen and my phone but the volume is stuck at 0 and won't increase or unmute. I have to take out my phone and hard close the app then open it back up again to get it to work. This happens about 50% of the time.

While it's not a dealbreaker, it is annoying. Is this a known issue or a setting I'm overlooking?

I've had this happen a few times, but haven't figured out the reasoning. Most of the time, it works perfectly. I sometimes try to use hey Lexus and then cancel it out and it works.

Try checking the selected audio playback device Lexus has selected through either your MID or the infotainment screen. Sometimes it won't switch to Apple Carplay automatically and thus you can't control your music.

This happened to me last time I drove the car and fixed the issue same as you - closing the Spotify app and reopening it. My new NX350h is only a few weeks old.

I've found that you have to let the car go through it's boot up before putting into gear. At least, this works for me.
