Default Spark plugs

I would be interested to know your thoughts on the replacement of the spark plugs in an NX.

My car was first registered in November 2014. The Warranty and Service Booklet states that the spark plugs should be replaced at 60000 miles. My car is now 6 years old and has covered 33608 miles. At the current level of use the car will only reach 60000 miles by the time it is about 12 years old.

I am thinking that the replacement of the plugs would under normal circumstances, occur at 5 years or less but, the booklet makes no mention of age, only mileage.

I have my car serviced by the main dealer under a service plan. Obviously the cost of replacing the plugs (which I believe is fairly expensive) would be allowed for in arriving at the cost of this plan but, if the plugs are unlikely to be replaced because of the mileage figure, am I losing out?

Apart from the mileage figure, what would be an acceptable life expectancy of a set of plugs?

Many thanks in advance of any input.

The iridium plugs on a usa spec nx are due for replacement every 40k miles miles. Spark plugs are important on a turbo car and I would follow the manual for the change interval unless they seem worn upon inspection, but I doubt that.

Thank you for your input kent1274. I mentioned age in my original post but my service book doesn't mention any time, only the mileage figure of 60000 miles.

At 33k miles, they are fine. The major concerns with plugs if you leave them in for too long is more based on MILEAGE rather than time. Sometimes, if left in too long they are a pain in the a*s to get out. Even at 6 years, 33k miles is not much at all. Don't sweat it unless you are having a problem.

Thank you for that NJLEXES, much appreciated.

I wish all members of Club Lexus a Very Happy Christmas and hopefully a much better 2021 than 2020 was for us.

Be safe.

Hi all,
I am a Lexus Master Technician and I am creating a series of maintenance/repair how-to videos covering the 2015-2021 Lexus NX models.
Here is my video showing how to replace the spark plugs.
Hit me up with suggestion on what other things you would like to see.
Cheers!
Viktor

WOW. Changing the plugs on my NX looks like the easiest of any vehicle I've ever owned. I can't wait to do it!
