Android Auto on post-October 2020 models only?!
Good afternoon everyone, I’m a new Lexus owner, been loving my NX, but I did have a little concern I wanted to get your thoughts on. When I purchased the 2020 Lexus NX in August, I was under the impression that Android Auto would be supported through a future update very soon, at least that’s what I was told at the dealership. The decision to launch only with apple car play was extremely disappointing, as alot of users have android (samsung etc..), and most new makes support Android auto lately
The fact that Android Auto is indeed coming to the 2020 Lexus NX, but only on October 2019 and on production models is a real slap in the face to the early adopters like myself who bought this vehicle the same day it came out . How is it fair that someone who buys my exact same model tomorrow, at the same price, gets a huge included feature at no extra cost, a feature that seemingly I will never have access to because I bought the vehicle just 2 months earlier?
Why is it only October 2019 and on production, what has changed, isn’t it the same car. Can’t whatever it is be retro-fitted into my car (pre October 2019 production), even if its at a price? My brother’s Mazda CX-5 for example got the android auto update a few months ago and he paid for it, which is fine, but at least it was offered!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this, and from experience if this has happened before with the end result being a retro-fit?, so maybe I shouldn’t worry much? I just use waze, gmaps,Spotify a lot and going 3 years on this lease without android auto will suck, it was a big factor in my choosing of a new car.

Oh I see. October 2019 production. There may be a retrofit. Looks like October 2019 and beyond have installed from factory.
I went through a similar situation with my 2019. It didn’t have CarPlay factory installed but the dealer updated later.
