Default Apple Car Play

What is the reason for making APPLE car Play available through a USB connection only rather than via bluetooth as well? Not terrible, I’m just not sure I understand the logic.

Great question. My guess would be bandwith. There are only a couple of manufacturers the set it up through Bluetooth. Most are using a USB connection. It could be that USB is just easier to implement, but it also could be that it is more reliable. If Toyota didn’t feel they could build a reliable solution via a wireless, they may have just decided to stick with a cabled method. I probably won’t use it much as I don’t like the clutter of extra cables. My friend with a new Camaro has the same disappointment. Another one of those “first world problems” isn’t it.

You’re right, of course, in the long run who really cares about nonsense like this? We’re so lucky.

1st world problems....

You’re mirroring your phone display so it requires both WiFi and Bluetooth to function. USB is more reliable.
