He means that the ones he has are not OEM Lexus themselves, but OEM in style... Aftermarket

Aftermarket means fittings and attachment will vary from OEM factory running boards... So in theory, the OEM installation link you've sent him is probably useless to him lol

Did they not come with directions? How much did you pay? I know OEM running boards are about $500 online and the above how to is step by step how to install OEM ones... should be very similar for aftermarket other than brackets being different. For stuff like that I'd stick with OEM. Most aftermarket running boards I've seen always look bad and end up rusting out eventually.

Installing Broadfeet OEM style running boards is a relatively straightforward process. Here are some simple installation instructions to guide you:

Note: It's always recommended to refer to the specific installation instructions provided by the manufacturer for your particular model of running boards, as there may be slight variations in the installation process.

Materials needed:
  • Broadfeet OEM style running boards
  • Mounting brackets and hardware (included with the running boards)
  • Socket wrench or appropriate tools
  • Torque wrench (optional but recommended)
Installation steps:
  1. Ensure that you have received all the necessary components, including the running boards, mounting brackets, and hardware. Verify that the parts match the specifications for your vehicle.
  2. Start by positioning the running boards alongside your vehicle to determine the appropriate placement. They should align with the vehicle's door sills and provide a comfortable stepping area.
  3. Locate the mounting points on the vehicle's frame or rocker panels where the running boards will attach. These points are usually pre-drilled or have markings to guide you. If necessary, consult the installation instructions for specific locations.
  4. Attach the mounting brackets to the running boards. Typically, the brackets slide into the designated slots on the underside of the running boards. Secure them using the provided hardware, such as bolts and nuts.
  5. With the assistance of another person or a suitable support, lift the running boards and position them under the vehicle, aligning the mounting brackets with the pre-determined attachment points.
  6. Attach the running boards to the vehicle using the included hardware. Insert the bolts through the holes on the mounting brackets and into the pre-drilled holes on the vehicle's frame or rocker panels. Tighten the bolts securely, but avoid overtightening to prevent damage.
  7. Repeat the previous steps for each mounting bracket and ensure that the running boards are level and securely attached on both sides of the vehicle.
  8. Once all the brackets are securely fastened, check the running boards for stability and make any necessary adjustments.
Finally, give the running boards a thorough inspection to ensure they are properly installed and aligned. Double-check all the mounting hardware for tightness and make any necessary adjustments.
