Default mini billy club?

OK, guys. I'm back showing off my ignorance!!!
It occurred to me that I never asked where the locking wheel lug key was stowed when I took delivery of the car, so I went online and got the answer. No problem!
Off I went down to the car, opened the trunk, removed the rug, looked in the left rear and, I'LL BE DAMNED... There it was!!! Not only the lug nut key but the scissor jack too, handle and all!! Boy, was I proud of me! So...I started looking around the trunk, and I noticed there was a small area on the left side, near the rear bumper that looked odd, so I fiddled , and sure enough, I pulled it open. Looking back at me was a brand new Phillips head screwdriver!!!! What a find!! Since I was on a roll, I looked on the opposite side of the trunk, same area. and it opened when i pulled on it also. Inside, what did I find? A steel rod about 3/4" diameter about 8" long with one outside threaded end and nothing much on the other end. It looked like a mini Billy club that the NYC Police used to whack me with, except this was steel, and the cop's was wood (thank God). I have been staring at this thing for 5 minutes trying to figure out what it could possibly be. It looks like it's solid enough to support, or tow, or push. the entire car! I have absolutely NO IDEA what this thing is for. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Oh, so you got Daredevil car? It was one of his fighting sticks. You didn't know?

Ok, on a serious note now.
it's your tow hook. Explore more. Go to the front, look at the bumper prominence. In it, you will find a plastic square lid. Pop it open with anything sharp. It's on the R hand side of the bumper. Look inside. There's threaded hole that your DD stick with thread in. Then tow truck connects rope to it and off you go.
