Ran over a palm tree frond....any damage?
Hi, the wife had no other choice, but to run over a palm frond. I've only changed the oil once, so I'm not too familiar with the undercarriage of this vehicle. Is the passenger side (left side of the picture) missing any lower covers? Does anyone have a complete underside picture that shows underneath from the left and right front wheels to the front bumper?

It’s the same housing and filter that’s on the 2009 Toyota Venza (4 cylinder) we traded in on this car. That had 120K miles with oil changes by me every 5K miles and no problems with the “plastic “ filter housing. We’ve got 35K miles on our NX and no problems with the filter housing so far. I don’t see a need to buy an aluminum housing unless it’s for “bling”.
We had several Highlander owners who reported that filter cover crack. When I did my oil change last week, it was torqued so much that I had to buy special wrench to undo it and even with that took me a lot of effort to undo it. Bling is great idea, especially if it's in a spot where no one can see it, right?
Yes, Dorman fit my NT just fine. Also, they had it with missing part, center flat cap. I took chance that OEM one will fit - and they gave me 50% discount on it. So I landed with both special wrench for those filters and Dorman metal cover $27 out da door. And indeed, that center cap - drain - fit into Dorman just fine.
I had same Dorman replacement on my Highlander. I respect others opinion and experience but I do not get along with plastic anything in that area. If you DIY oil changes, I bet you hand torque it, right? Not use power tools or something, judging by how hard it was to remove it after Toyota dealer service. And that's exactly when they snap - and then what? I had car up on the lift, no oil, praying for the "ears" on it to hold, while I was un torquing it. Like we don't have enough trouble with plastic radiator tops and necks breaking off....

I found a YouTube Video. It’s in Chinese but you can clearly see the undercarriage.
