I completely agree, this thread is hilarious, because you failed to recognize the underlying issues: how the dealer, representing Lexus, treated owners with this issue, e.g. an owner of a brand new 2019 NX reported the sideview mirror shaking to a dealer, only to be told to buy another model -how much more hilarious than this, that does not have this problem, as if it is the characteristic of this model! In other words, Customer service is at issue here! To be fair, another Lexus dealer tried to fix it by changing the wheel/rim sizes, assuming they have anything to do with side mirror shaking problem - how much more hilarious than this , still without success.

It is also hilarious because of one data point you provided, just because your 2016 NX does not have this problem, actually 2 if you count mine, also a 2016 NX with rock solid, touch wood no sideview mirror shaking. The point is: how do you know how many NXs have this problem, and whether this is a normal occurence such that many Lexus dealers claimed that this problem is problematic, a typical characteristic of NX models? At the risk of sounding condescending, perhaps you could review the concept of "bell curve" or Gaussian distribution, and determine for yourself, whether this mirror shaking/vibrating is on what part of the bell curve, below normal, normal, or rare occurence?

It is not hilarious, but rather opinionated when the NX is compared against other make & models. But of course, one is entitled for his/her/transgender opinion! To me, it is more of a distraction than a real argument.

2018 NX 300 , My driver side mirror dose shake, too. Exactly same problem. Passenger side is rock soild. It looks like dealership has no idea how to fix this. I was wondering since this seems like widespread issue for majority of NX., not sure writing a letter to Lexus Corp will help.

If yours is still very new, try a different Lexus dealer(s) for warranty complaint; some may be more flexible, reads: less **** than others! (I'd bluntly tell flexible dealers to do future services with them, stay away from your original dealer)

That’s exactly what I did. I brought my car to a dealership in PA and they told me that it was considered an issue. Now they’re going to take the car back and have a engineer find a solution. Hopefully they can get it fixed

My dealer has had my car a month now for the driver's side mirror as well as a separate car vibration issue. A front axle replacement may have improved the car vibration after balancing wheels repeatedly did nothing to help (only time will tell), but it did nothing for the mirror shake. The NX loaner they gave me has the same mirror shake issue as well, so this seems like it's a bit more common and a big issue for Lexus on the NX as well as on some RX. Today, they said they solved the mirror problem by affixing some type of foam to the back of the mirror glass and then re-attaching it to the motor assembly (they're replacing the motor assembly as well, but I don't remember them telling me why that was the case). The authorization for these services appeared to come from on-site regional Lexus associates, and I was told this procedure (or something similar) could become the fix for other NX and RX models having the same issue, but who knows. Lexus knows this is a problem but they're not ready to roll out a fix/bulletin for it yet it seems.. at the same time, this could all be fluff and I could pick up my car tomorrow with the mirror still shaking around as soon as I hit the road. If it truly is fixed, I hope this resolution is eventually extended to all you other NX owners dealing with this design flaw.

Edit: The car continues to vibrate off and on (some days are better than others?) and the mirror still shakes badly. Lexus doesn’t know how to fix this.

Unhappy Terrible customer service

I bought a NX300H in July.
I take the car for a road trip from South Florida to West Florida.
After 600 miles, I use the function "back up mirror" to not scratch the rims on the curbside when I back up at the hotel.
Since this day, the left mirror is shaking when I drive 35mph or more.
I called LEXUS who told me to go to TOYOTA (no Lexus on this part of Florida in MOBILE), TOYOTA noticed the issue directly but told me it needs 2 days to order the part. So I continue my road trip.
I come back in August in South Florida, I go to LEXUS NORTH MIAMI where I bought my car.
They said they did not see the issue and almost insult me, like I should keep calm and ask me the leave the dealership. etc...
I go to LEXUS MARGATE, same story (but polite), they compare with another NX300 and we see this is shaking on left and right, and conclude this is "normal".
I opened some cases to fix that, nobody cares.

LEXUS has a terrible customer service. I've got 22 different cars in my life (17 different brands) and I never seen a brand who refuses to use the warranty.
LEXUS is really not a luxury brand as they pretend.

This issue is a know defect since they build the car and they all pretend there is nothing, because they want to save $1000 on the warranty.

My stupid question, does it qualify for a lemon law ? I don't want to drive this car anymore. I am fed up.

Also, just for information, the resale value is so ****ty for this car, I asked 1 year ago how much it would worth and it lost $13,000 in a year. SO BAD.

Sorry to hear about your experience, service unfortunately varies by dealer. I do not have the side mirror shaking or vibrating on my 2019.

Lexus has one of the best resale values in the market. 1st year depreciation is bad on every new vehicle. If you're worried about depreciation then lease or buy used. It's irrelevant unless you don't keep cars very long.

I didn't realize this was such an ongoing issue. I just happen to be in the market for replacing a damaged(from my own doing) side mirror & stumbled across this
, It seems like a pretty easy fix.

They haven't fixed this for 2020 models either. My 2020 base NX 300 AWD has the mirror shake on the driver's side, and it looks like the passenger side is starting to do it now too. It's very annoying so I came here to see if it was a known problem, which it seems to be, and a possible solution, which there seems not to be.

Here is my story with shaking mirror issue with dealership. I went to LEXUS Rockville for this issue, of course they didn't have any TSB or prior complain for this issue. They were not even spending a time to test drive. All they tell me was go to any local body shop to have them take mirror apart and check from there. I found this suggestion was pretty ridiculous, because my vehicle is 2018 with 14000 miles, it is still under warranty, why do I need to take my car to local body shop. I was extremely shocked, because this was told by trained service advisor at LEXUS.
I absolutely do not feel LEXUS dealership provides any luxury service, except the cost of service.

Toyota has recently released a TSB (technical service bulletin) to address similar mirror vibration/shake on the new RAV4 (2019 and newer). Like the NX, the RAV4 has side mirrors mounted to the thin door sheet metal instead of the more-sturdy outer door frame. The TSB instructs dealers oi install a backer/stiffening plate inside the door where the mirror mounts. As far as I know, no similar TSB has been released for Lexus models.

The TSB can be viewed or downloaded here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/57vihvgy48...shake.pdf?dl=1

Perhaps if you show this TSB to your Lexus service manager, he/she will pester Lexus for a backer plate kit for the NX.

I recently fixed mine by removing both side mirrors and thread-locking and re-tightening the three Torx 20 or 25 screws that join the housings to their bases. My issue was the floppy mirror housings on solid bases though, not really much of the vibration caused by thin sheet metal, which would cause the side mirror bases to move as well, as others have referred to in earlier replies.

Default Mirror vibration on brand new 2020

Has anyone been able to get Lexus service to fix the vibration?

I keep trying with no luck. The mirror vibration happens even on smooth roads at high speeds but is excessive over even the slightest imperfection in the road.

I was just reading this thread yesterday to ask the same thing. forgot to update in my case. when i brought my nx to lexus for the service maintenance (5k miles), I brought up the issue of the mirror shaking. oh well, the staff said they have roadtested my nx and see nothing, making me appear that i was hallucinating or making the story up. i gave up. although im used to it now, it is still shaking/vibrating.

They told me the same thing, then the next time I test drove WITH them and the guys reaction was “ohhh I see what you’re talking about, wow” but because it’s common they don’t even try to look at it?

I provided the service bulletin but am still waiting to hear back. I will have to press the issue because it drives me crazy. Glad for you that you are at least used to it at this point.
