I'm new to the NX- less than 3 weeks. I was driving about 15mph, reached over and accidentely hit the gear shift. The car went from drive into reverse! Yes, both adult driver and adult passenger felt it reversing and the screen said R. Immediately hit the brake and put the car back into drive. I see this as a huge safety issue. The dealer is telling me that all Lexus models will do this, as their is no safety button. I do understand that cars can go from drive/reverse into neutral easily. I would like your thoughts?

 

I had a coworker years ago that would do this occasionally to rental cars. Most cars were not damaged by this but some were, including one transmission that dropped parts all over the pavement. I would assume that Lexus would have something built into the transmission to prevent damage if/when this happens. Let us know what you find out and if there was any damage.
