Avoid Lexus branded NX roof racks
The Lexus branded NX roofracks (aeroblades) are by Thule.
Recently one of the 4 locking caps snapped off. They are attached to a metal spring by two plastic tabs that allows them to sit horizontally while turning the locking *****. The plastic tabs broke. The racks were 18 months old.
Thule states on its web site that it has a 3 year warranty on its roof racks.
However, Toyota offers only a 1 year warranty once it sticks on the Lexus logo.
The Toyota parts guy was nice enough to rip off a locking cap off another set of returned NX racks. Apparently the broken locking caps are not uncommon. Once one is broken the entire set of roof racks need to be replaced as the keys are unique to each set of caps.
I now have 1 key for 3 caps and a 2nd set for the cannabilised cap. Better than nothing.
Save yourself the hassle and but directly from a Thule dealer or distributor. Cheaper and 3 year warranty.
