Default Loose gear shifter

Anybody else got a loose gear shift? Not only is it slightly wobbly if I wiggle it around, but the entire thing twists left and right with just a little bit of force. I like to grip my right hand on it while driving, and lately if I grasp it hard, it will actually twist. It can probably be tightened but the leather will need to come off... ideas?

Ya, mine came like that as well. Squeeze the top of the leather boot and pull downward. There is a release tab somewhere, I forget if it's in the front or back, but it is easy to find. Turn the **** clockwise to tighten. Reattach the boot. Easy fix!

Hey thanks! I pulled down the leather like you mentioned and gave it a full 360 degree turn. That tightened it up. However the entire shifter still wobbles a little bit from the bottom. Maybe I'll have the dealer look at it.
Side note: in my opinion I wish the entire shifter was thicker. The thin metal rod just seems flimsy and not quality. (And clearly prone to wobbly/loose issues, or at least being thin amplifies it)

same problem. Nothing you can do beside putting in some teflon tape and try to twist it to the right position. Pull down the bottom leather then work out the top part.
