So here is what i just heard from my service advisor:
"My foreman was able to get in contact with the Lexus FTS. He sent over all the information on your car, including all the vitals from the health check from your last visit. The FTS reviewed all of the information which he said shows no signs of concern. He also stated that right now that vibration is a normal characteristic of the NX200T. This doesn't mean that a few months down the road Lexus will not have a remedy or repair for this concern, but he said as of right now there is no "fix". This is the number for Lexus customer care: 1-800-255-3987 as I know you will most likely want to speak with them directly. I was hoping the FTS would like to see your vehicle in person but he said there was no need at this time because all of the data shows no signs of issues. I apologize there is nothing I can do here at this time, however, if something changes and we hear more information on this topic I will certainly be in touch."

Clearly I am not pleased that the field tech specialist couldnt even take time to see my car and issue. I have already called Lexus customer care and they will be having the person assigned to my case calling me by the end of the week to determine what they can do to resolve this issue. One point I made was that this has only recently occurred. If it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle it would have been doing it since I had it, and i would have brought it up at my 5k service which i didnt. I also cant believe Lexus would make a car that intentionally vibrates only when you take your foot off the brake. Lastly, i referenced Lexus to this board and said of 50 polled, 20, or 40% of those who responded have an issue while 60% do not. That alone shows that some of us have an issue which if this was characteristic, we would all have it.

I totally agree on your last statement. A Ford Fusion with the 2L Ecoboost I had as a rental in November on a recent business trip had no vibrations. I will say however that having gone to 94 octane fuel, it has noticeably reduced the vibration.

COuld the octane be playing a role? How about the ethanol content which in this grade (at Petro Canada), has 0% in it? A combination of the two?

Would be interesting to hear back from owners on this...

cant speak for ethanol but I think (in Connecticut) its standard ratios in all of the gas. I use 93 octane. Its the highest I can get here, short of buying racing fuel lol

^^^ They must have just changed the formula. I just checked PetroCanada's site and they state Ultra94 may now contain a blend of Ethanol. Clearly they need to update their pump since it still says no Ethanol.

http://retail.petro-canada.ca/en/ind...2056.aspx#Does

Does Ultra 94 contain ethanol? Does Petro-Canada still offer an ethanol-free gasoline?
Ultra 94 contains ethanol. Due to the fact that various fuel grades are blended at the point of sale, most grades of Petro-Canada fuel may now contain up to 10% ethanol. This represents a change from the previous state, where premium fuel was ethanol-free at Petro-Canada.
The bummer with this is Ethanol (or lack thereof) may not be a factor anymore. Perhaps it is present in lower quantities in the Ultra94 which may still play a role in reducing vibrations?

i do think that outside temperature may be a contributing factor. More specifically, I think it effects RPMs a little even when the car is warmed up. I have been able to isolate the issue to that 760 +/- RPM range. Early today (10 degrees F) when my car was warmed up, even when on the brake it was vibrating but I noticed the RPMs were the same on/off the brake. Later in the day when it was a bit warmer it was more typical, vibration off brake, no vibration on brake. Normally my RPMs are a bit lower when on the brake. I also determined today that the hold function has no affect on the issue. When it is on and functioning such as at a light, i still had the vibration off/no vibration on the physical pedal

I came in this thread looking to ask if you tried the higher octane.

So I guess there is something to using the higher octane.

if a higher octane helps, then Lexus needs to change some settings to have it run on a 91 (as is indicated) octane properly, without the vibration. I can tell you its almost impossible to get higher than 91 in the states

absolute lies. Top Tier gas stations like BPs, Chevrons, Shell, and 76s have 93. Only time it would be an issue would be at higher elevations.

My Camaro is tuned for 93+, so believe me, they're everywhere.

really? we are going to argue about octane availability. Ok, I will be more specific. In my area (where there are no Chevrons, Shell, or 76s) there are few places I can get 93. Either way, Lexus says the car is to use 91 (or higher) which means we shouldnt have to run higher than that to reduce an issue.

ps- your camaro is tuned for 93+, key word there is "tuned". This is how you have it tuned to run. Lexus "tuned" our Nx's to run on 91+

Nah, no argument, because in all honesty, I don't care whats in your little corner of Connecticut. But don't generalize the entire country because its really not hard to find. Heck, I have gas stations here that have 100, E85, and C12 (~120 leaded) on tap.

But I noticed you left BP out of that list. Guess you should go there.

And until someone is able to confirm (not an owner, but someone paid to determine this), that octane has anything to do with this, this is all heresay.

good deal. BP was just inadvertently left off. Dont have many of those either. Some, but, way more $ than other stations, and still anti-BP from the gulf spill. Citgo is big here, Mobil (more of these than anything), Sunoco, Costco... Come to think of it, I may owe an apology. I am pretty sure Costco is 93

Yes, BP will cost more than most, because those chain gas stations (Like Costco, or Local Supermarkets) buy gas from whoever they can. Most of the time is inconsistent and one day can be a good quality gas, the next it can be junk. I avoid those like a cancer.

Quality costs money.

As for the Oil Spill, do you going to boycott all cars for impacting the air quality? Do you boycott steel production due to the impact it has had to the environment (Industrial revolution here, or currently China)? Companies make mistakes.

Mobil would work fine. Sunoco is junk.

I see tankers from two area wholesaler/distributors making deliveries at the local BP, Shell, Mobil, Costco, Speedway etc. stations every day. Yes each adds their own additives - Is V Power much different than Envigorate or whatever the other guys call theirs? Who knows. The prices are virtually the same station to station in a busy competitive area (Costco a couple of cents lower usually). Stations make most of their money on the retail store operations which are franchises. Gas is a commodity. Pick a preferred brand for whatever reasons and everyone will be fine.

Ct has plenty of 93 octane stations. Sorry to say this but most stations buy from distributors who get it from refineries. Our local distributor is in Providence RI all the gas around here comes from there. How the specific gas co.'s change the formulas is beyond me.
They all get the same gas. I've seen the trucks go from one station to the next on their route both stations under differing banners. I've seen it a hundred times. A good friend of mine built a bunch of the gas stations here he told me the same thing. We have plenty of 93 octane stations here.
Same with fuel oil all comes from the same distributors.

We have a station local to me that has 110 octane I know my Supra is tuned on it. (28lbs) I have a 93 octane map and a 118 octane map.

Your car , if on the factory computer , will just pull timing if you run lower octane. 93 might be the best , but it will run especially in cold weather just fine on 91.

Again , has any pulled the battery and reset the computer to see if the fuel maps is causing the vibration. It would take you 30 min to find out. Then drive it for a little while and see if it helps.

My NX doesn't vibrate so how a Lexus head can say it's normal is complete and utter BS-
