Do note that in some countries the DRLs can not be turned off, so the rotary switch on that stalk is different.

In the US we use a "Type A" stalk, where the bottom position is DRL OFF. On "Type B" stalks, that position is just marked with a O, which is DRL ON. I do not know which countries use the Type B stalk.

Of course! Probably sensible to have your DRLs on for safety reasons. Here in the US, as you're no doubt aware, forcing people to do things like that is "too socialist", thus frowned upon.

The daytime running lights are not for illuminating the roads, they are to make your car more visible to other traffic, pedestrians etc. And to be honest the DRL on the NX are friggin awesome.

Before DRLs , I always drove with my headlights on all the time. It's been proven that statistically, people tend to pull out in front of you less often.

Just curious....why do people want to turn them off?

guys you are both right. I know its for safety measures. Also have in mind that this feature was firstly introduced by countries like the Scandinavian countries which don't have a lot of light during the day... In our country you won't even notice them since the sun is always shining and its very bright. Personally i don't like them so much so i would prefer to have them switched off if possible.

Your statement about not seeing them in sunlight is exactly opposite of the truth, that is why they were developed as well. People can and do see them easier in the daylight it helps make your car stand out so it is more visible to others.

That being said, if you don't want them on because you don't like them, that is totally your choice. I don't know where that is in the menu's off hand though, sorry.

I love them but you can turn them off. Select Menu>SetUp>Vehicle>Vehicle Customization>Light Settings>Daytime Running Lights>select OFF.

I will be interested to know if this menu item exists in countries with the Type B stalk.

I wasn't a fan of DRLs when they were halogen bulbs. Now that automakers are making their own designs with LEDs I like them. It adds character to the car and makes it identifiable.
