I mounted a dual USB port switch in the dash blanks below the steering column from EBay. You have to make sure you get the Toyota small unit 23mm x 33mm to fit the blank.
How did you get the blank out? I tried to pry at it a bit, but don't want to scuff up the plastic, it didn't want to budge.
I just used a plastic pry tool. It is in tight , but will just pull out with force. Otherwise use a screwdriver with plenty of electrical tape on it so not to mark the plastic.

I'm in the usa and have a 2016 nx fsport, my plugs are different, both holes are covered by a single cover, and it comes out from the back only not the front.

Just found this thread from last year. Verifying that the US model does have a single piece cover for the two blanks and comes out theback. I installed a similar dual port with quick charger in "Toyota size", which is loose in the hole. I wrapped in in "strong tape" but still a little loose, still figuring how to secure it in place. I might mold a small piece of putty epoxy to lock it in. To my horror, the ports lit up like a christmas tree when I turned everything on, to my relief, you can't see it while driving!
The only issue with long cables is that you are limited to the factory USB output which on my Samsung S7 Phone shows a charge off approx 350mA. With the Ebay Usb port I get around 900mA charge which enables fast charging on my phone. Much quicker charge when you don't spend a long time in the car.
Pulling an old thread hoping for some guidance. Can you link to the part you bought? I have one blank spot, might as well use it for someting.
to put into the blanks to the bottom left of my steering wheel based off of the above info about dimensions and it turns out it doesn't fit!!!!
When I search for "toyota usb socket" on Amazon, I get a bunch of results that are 0.88 x 1.3 inch sockets (~23mm x 33mm). Unfortunately these do not fit my NX at all. See attached. My blanks are 0.75 x 1.25 inch (19mm x 31.75mm). Does anyone know where to find some USB sockets or any other accessories at all into these blanks?

Did you get an answer at all? I'm trying to do the same thing and have a 2018 also with the same slots
This is the latest I used to replace my original one from when I posted in 2017. It looks like it would fit a hole of 19mm x 28mm . Inserted from the front. Just remember mine is the Australian version.

the good thing is it plugged into the existing cigarette lighter style factory plug in the centre console wiring.
Odd.. it says in the listing that the device is 32x23.. but you received one that fits 28x19? I bought one off Amazon that says it's 32x20, which would fit the US version of the dashboard but received 32x22 instead..
Hello Everyone,
I am in need as well of adding the usb charger, I have removed both of the plugs on the right and left side of steering wheel column as wildeklave and avodian show in this thread, my question is my plugs have wiring attached to them, and dont know if they were used for other features, wondering how I can run power to the new USB charger, and if I can re-use some of that wiring.

The plugs are just holding the wiring harness for the buttons that would have been there if your car had the feature. You can just move those out of the way and zip tie them somewhere. The best way to run power is to tap into the fuse box which is right under this area and use an add-a-circuit.
