While those who say that the IS250 is a dog, they are right, but let's not loose the sights that the IS250 is what it is for its intended use. A daily driver, not a highway monster or a track car. The IS350 is more suited for those purposes.
While I agree on the premise that the IS250 is not a track car, it should contain enough power to get you around someone on the highway without waiting...downshift..wait longer. It is almost a safety risk. What if you're driving down an onramp, and the vehicle beside you refuses to let you merge, and the car behind you is riding your butt? You can't brake... So it certainly helps to have that extra power to get around the person who wouldn't let you merge. There are tons of examples of this, but we are getting off topic, so I'll stop lol

Common, given that logic, half the cars and small utility vehicles on the road would be in the "safety concern" category. What you are describing amounts to aggressive driving.

When I merge from a ramp, I am looking at the oncoming traffic on the highway well before I get to the bottom, and then lining myself up for an opening. If the vehicle beside me refuses to budge, I just let go of the gas a little, get behind him and merge. I don't let my ego get in the way of getting home, to work or where I am going.

Maybe you missed the part where I said there was a car right behind you also, which would make a brake slam just as bad? In that case, its defensive driving to not run off the road.

lol ego...

No I didn't, I never said to slam the brakes, just let go of the gas a little to allow room and align to an opening. The one behind you should be doing the same as he is looking for an opening too. Slamming the brakes is what an aggressive driver would do, or would come top of mind to one.

You are right, this is getting off topic. Enjoy your new NX200t when it comes. It's not going to be a 3.5l V6, and given the weight of the car, it will give you just enough oomph to keep up with an IS250. I know from experience, I have both.

Amen to that, and I am not even Christian.

Pennsylvania may be home to the city of brotherly love, but it has it share of aggressive drivers, so I know where Swacer is coming from. I used to the commute along i476 from Plymouth Meeting to Blue Bell when I travelled there for business purposes.

[QUOTE=My0gr81;8999921]Amen to that, and I am not even Christian.

I am anything but Christian. The "Psalm 35" reference was for Swacer. He knows what I mean.

As far as aggressive driving, I've grown to be pretty passive in my 50's. But it was fun as hell to "race" an Audi a couple of weeks ago for about fifty miles on I-24 between Monteagle and Chattanooga. Good thing there were no LEOs.

All right then, now I know why they have that saying about "assume" as I just did, based on your location and quoting of the scriptures. Never mind, return to your private joke.

I guess I'm going to have to search and see what this Psalm 35 has to say.

It's about fighting the battles that need to be fought and having the lord's help to fight for a higher purpose.

I'm choosing to ignore that reference, this is a car forum, not a theology one. Who knows if the NSA is passing this through their filters.
