I decided to have the dealer install them. It took about 3 hours. They turn on and off with the headlights. They look pretty sweet!!!!!

3 hours labor at the going rate, I am sure it was more because they have never done them before, but I would rather have them do it, Instead of me of someone else messing something up. Plus the instructions are in Japanese aside from some pictures.

What is the going rate these days? $50? $75? More?

Even at $50, that's $150 just for the labor. The unit costs $265 (plus extra for shipping). That's at least $415! Yikes! For something that very few people will see, especially with cups in there.

I'd rather have the lighted threshold plates.

True, but I didn't buy a Lexus to be thrifty! It will be my last car for a long time so I want to get everything I can, and have it done right. I drive a lot in the dark, so being able to set my coffee down and not worry about spilling it.... along with the cool factor, is more than worth it to me.

The rate here in Alberta is around $150 an hour. No matter how nice they, I wouldn't pay $450 for labour...

These look super cool! Expensive for sure! Just to clarify these are an OEM Lexus part right?

Thanks,

I just purchased this for my wife's NX. I should have it hopefully in a few weeks. I'll post pictures once I receive it and hopefully do an install/pics of things apart that might help others.

From asking different member one thing I will be doing is wrapping the discs with 3m clear vinyl so that way keys and other such metal things won't scratch the plates up and make them look like ***.

There's already a video floating around on how to remove the center console so that shouldn't be too hard of a process to do. I'm wondering in terms of which wire to tap. Hopefully there are already connections there but we'll see here once I dive into it.

I made a thread when I installed mine but figured I'd add to this one, even though it's a tad old.

Install wasn't bad. Took me a little time to figure out the dimming/power wires but nothing a multi meter didn't help with. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

Looks really cool. You DO loose a little bit of the cup holder depth because the inserts are about 3/4" tall but overall a really cool mod that makes the interior nicer.
