Question Should I Buy? Used 2018 Lexus NX 300 F Sport 50k miles

Currently driving a 25’ Honda Civic and the quality control of the vehicle is driving me insane, panel gaps and rattling noises when driving.

Im looking into a used 2018 NX 300 F Sport with 50k miles. Dealer is asking 26.5k out the door. Vehicle has a clean carfax with consistent service records at Lexus dealerships. I had a few questions I’d like to ask this forum, thank you for your time

- I’m a big commuter (60 miles round trip), will this vehicle be able to handle this commute long term?
- How reliable is the 2018 year? I’ve read a few post with people having issues with the engines
- What should I expect for maintenance? How expensive will it be?
- Is it worth getting dealer extended warranty?
- Will this vehicle reliably last me minimum 8 years?
- Current owners do you have any insights?

If that’s your vehicle of choice I would personally look at a NX 300h or a NX 350h. NA hybrid. The maintenance on the hybrid model is very minimum. Oil and filter changes. Plus the hybrid battery comes with a 10yr 150k mile warranty. The mpg will be similar to what you average in your Civic. NX 300 may recommend/require premium fuel. You can run regular gas in the NX 300h NX 350h. The NX 300h is made in Japan as well as some of the NX 350h. Quality may/should be a little better.

I’ve had 4 Lexus/Toyota hybrid vehicles. None of them have needed any maintenance outside of oil changes. The brakes will last over 100k miles.

Good luck

If it matters to you, the 2018 Lexus NX does not have Apple CarPlay. 2019+ NX does.

$26.5k OTD with only 50k miles is a great price where I live!!

You didn’t mention if it was AWD or FWD — If AWD that’s an even better deal, but don’t know if you even need it where you live…

There’s a tremendous amount of info here on CL — I would search NX 1st Gen CL Threads for first MY refresh info on some of your questions/concerns.

Good Luck !!

Trading A brand new car for a 7yr old vehicle with 50k miles?
Not a good idea imo as you will lose huge amount on the Civic probably.
