My 2021 Lexus NX started itself while in my garage today. I felt less crazy saying this, now seeing others experienced the same thing with their Lexus. This scared me to death. I do not know when it started. My keys were in my purse untouched since I last drove the car, 12 hours earlier, and my app with auto start capabilities, last record said "car unlocked", no other records. When I went in my garage, car was locked and car was running. That record was not in my app. My garage was still locked from night before, so none of the family had been in my garage. I called Lexus dealership and Lexus customer service, and I cannot tell if they do no believe me or they just don't really care. They didn't seem alarmed or concerned in any way. They said "we can try to reenact the issue to see what happened"... Like how would they do that? The car started itself, for the 1st time ever. I have had the car for 2 years. I guess all I can do is park in the driveway, and see if it happens again.

 

Well, first question. DID you enroll in the free trial of ENFORM ? You are given this option when you purchase the car, and for my 2020 it is for 3 full years from date of purchase.

If you DID sign up for it, then within the app it keeps track of your previous TRIPs. So, if nothing else, you should be able to determine the DATE/TIME that the car was started, even though the trip had no distance and the BEGIN/END points were the same.

 

I hope the car shut off after 15 minutes when it starts itself or else you could have a carbon monoxide hazard if you park in the garage. In one of old cars, the trunk use to open itself and the dealer never figured out the cause. Hopefully, this is just a one time glitch with the auto starter.

 

Is it the hybrid or turbo. The hybrid can switch off the motor and be in ready mode and it appears to have turned off. Motor restarts when hybrid charge drops

 

Carbon monoxide detectors in the garage and house are a must have. I have had them for years. It is easy leave the car running regardless.
