Key Fob Reprogramming
#6
Programming at Stevens Creek Lexus cost me about 75$ but that was for an original that somehow became un-programmed. Was hoping it was just a battery At least I got a car wash out of it...

There's a guy on craigslist who claims he could program our fobs... he offers warranty on his work too and can travel to you for additional cost.
This is what he emailed me when I inquired about his services:
"I'm in El Sobrante. The problem with used fobs is they sometimes work and sometimes they don't. I allow my customer to bring them in but if it doesn't work, you still pay me for my time and reset. My fobs are almost new and have all been tested to work. I can charge you
$80, your fob, plus ill copy a key, no warranty on fob... If it doesn't work you pay me $40.
$130 for my fob, full dealer warranty, copy of your laser key."
Sounds like one of the techs has the software at home and doing this as a side hustle.

Took used, allegedly right key fobs with correct codes on circuit board to Ft. Worth Lexus dealer. Tech rep told me they couldn't do it.
I don't believe her, but what alternative do I have?
I've also searched extensively and unsuccessfully in the DFW for an automotive locksmith who can reprogram the keys.
Will probably buy one for about $275 form the dealer eventually -8((((

Finally after many calls found a Dallas locksmith who would reprogram the used key I bought for $20.
I went there and he tried: plugged into the onboard computer but was unable after two tries to reprogram the key.
The locksmith could sell me one for about $225 but first needed an "OEM P/N" for 89904-30C60 and 89904-50380.. Have no idea where to get that information so I give up.
Looks like I'll be buying a new one from a Lexus dealer;
Frustrating experience but I'll get over it. -8)))
