Default Tire Sensor Problem

hey, does anyone know if there was a tire sensor recall or anything? I have been having problem with my tire sensor, not sure which tire, but it keeps going on and off. I had each tire's air pressure checked to make sure i didnt have a leak, and everything was right on. I've noticed it usually comes on when it's cold outside. I dont know if maybe when i got my car serviced maybe the mechanics messed something up or what? It's really irritating! Just wanted to see what some of you thought before i took it in the dealership.
Thanx!

i had the same problem with my tpms. It was going on and off for like a year or two i ignored it after a while i jus assumed that it was the cold lowering the pressure in the tires

the cold make the air in your tires go down until they warm up and the air expands jsut add some more air jsut a little since I don't know how much you are running and you should be fine.

It depends on where the system was initialized.. Lets say all 4 of your tires were at 40psi when initialized. The lower threshold to trigger the light would be around 32psi (8 psi lower than the original pressure). If your tires were then set to 32-34psi.. the light wouldnt come on, but when really cold, pressure drops, and the light comes on...

PS.. you can initialize your system yourself.. the option is in the menu accessed by the three buttons to the left of the steering wheel... scroll through until it says pressure initialize.. then press and hold the center button until it finishes...

and no.. there have been no recalls pertaining to the TPMS system, not sure why you would think there was.

^ What he said. I had the same problem - I just brought all my tires up to factory PSI spec and then re-initialized. Problem solved.

You don't need to go to dealership for TPMS problems unless you want to get possible warranty service.

Most of the tire shops now have the scanner for TPMS service.

And sometimes the batteries in a TPMS sensor can go bad or there's other issues with the system - otherwise TPMS systems are pretty reliable. Just make sure the tire shop replaces the mounting nut and o-ring on your sensors during tire service.
