Believe me guys, I am the one who has the most tickets for tints.. All started back in 98, till now... I went through it ALL.. No way around it, sometimes PBA cards do not help at all..

The ONLY solution to your tint problem is going to an eye doctor and the doctor signing some form where he advises you to have darker tints because of sun glare.

Some cops are okay, but some cops are just looking for trouble.

If a cop writes over a PBA card for tinted windows, their PBA delegate needs to be notified promptly...there are plenty of other things out there to shop for like DWIs than to harass someone (let alone a person with a legit PBA card) for tinted windows.

Sheepsheadbay exit by the movie theatre is notorious for checkpoints. I used to run into check points on Friday evenings there as far as 10 years ago. My car back then had a crack on the windshield from driver's to passenger's side. Each time a different officer would tell me if I get pulled over with that again, I would get a ticket.
One time he saw me take off my seatbelt to get my license from my pocket, and then told me I should wear my seatbelt. lol

Not all cops are like that--don't make the generalization that all cops are like that because of a bad experience with one or two, some are very normal people. That said, the **ONLY** problems I have had with police officers in my life have been with the small-town police department in the Long Island town I live in. The guys on that job are abusive and stop people for the pettiest things around.

I have an uncle that has been a cop in NY for 22 years and he does not stop cars for tints, clear corner lights or any of that stuff. He thinks its petty and a waste of time. My cousin is a Captain in the NYPD and he feels the same way, although you don't really do car stops as a Captain.

I have wanted to be a police officer since I was 4 or 5 years old and my dream will come true in July when I start with the NYPD. I too will not be doing stops for BS stuff and I will try and be as professional and courteous as possible.

My uncle is a cop and I'm starting the police academy in a few months, so I didn't get a ticket but I think its so stupid to stop someone for tints if they're not violating any other traffic laws.

What dept was it that stopped you bro?

Anyway I'm supposed to start the academy in July and that would put me out on patrol in January. They send most of the recruits to work in BK in East New York; the last class 2/3rds of the people went to like the 75 or the 73 or the 77.

How much is a ticket now a days ? I live in Nassau so far I got pull over for other stuff (My X-GS had the windshield tinted) cop never said anything to me about my tint. and now on my GX and 4runner put smoked tint on top of the factory one and the fronts 20%. The only thing I Learned over the years was always be nice treat them with respect from the point you roll down the window and to the point where they give you just the ticket for tint and letting you off the hook for the others tickets like speeding, no seat belt ,running stop sign sorry officer i wasn't paying attention.

Yea I know where both those locations are. Check with me in January if you want a card, lol. The PBA was SUPER stingy this year as far as cards with the guys. In years past, you got like 8 and could purchase more for like a dollar or two each. They had many fewer cards made this year.

Sup...thats a nice GX...u'd definately get stopped in my town for those tints. I think a tint ticket in Nassau is like $55. My uncle is a Nassau County cop and he has told me the cops who work in my town are the laughing stock of all of Nassau County and everyone knows they're a complete joke
