One of our goals for the upcoming season should be to organize several MEGA meets spread throughout the summer..Similar to the meets in the past where we had 50+ or even 200+ cars with other car clubs such as BMW, Mecedes, etc...Where we were also sponorsed heavily by Lexus, Tm engineering, Zaino, Daizen and other companies, lots of freebies from the raffles will boost attendance...Here are sample meets we had back pre-NELOC days...

I think meets of this magnitude would bring up NELOC spirit for sure...

 

^^ You are right about those mega meets garnering enthusiasm Dennis. The last 200 plus car multi forum mega local meet we had for NELOC was Tobay . Talk about convoys. I am a member of the Bimmerboards also and ready to get the ball rolling once again if need be..

 

I agree. The meets back then were not as frequent, but when they did happen it was very well organized and definitely memorable. Even the sponsors would send us stuff for their appreciation. I miss the raffles and the large turnouts of 30+ cars.

 

i agree with sleeper97 it was the meets back then, that got me so into Lexus & so call meets..... we need to Unite!!

Dennis, I remember that day well. That was a very nice meet it was cold that day but I met a lot of great people. Lots of D&D Coffee and Daizen giveaways! That goes to show all the newbs with and without titles here today... before there was NELOC and all this drama, there are some members that were here supporting and setting the bar before and will continue to support and be here in the end. those were the good old days when folks took pride in their lexus

Im glad you guys are around to help newbs understand what a meet really is and why we shouldn't besmirch the name of CL and NELOC with improperly organized meets.

In December when I first joined, I wanted to organize a meet, and I did. But without more experienced members lending a hand and giving me advice like trukn and oohpapi, until they helped I had no idea how to go about it properly. Its very important that there is a most efficient way to go about this and its taught to newcomers.

I know it frustrates the OG's like crazy (the 100+ post threads for a local meet etc, meets without directions/commitment/DATE AND TIME) and i completely understand. We newbies just need to be taught the right way. and I for one, am open to all teachings and suggestions

 

I honestly have to say, I've enjoyed these meets, probably as everyone else has. The only problem that I see is that we need to set up more meets within NJ, for its' members. It's hard for us to get to awesome meets down in MD, NY, CT. We're dead smack in the middle! We need to set up a couple of meet spots in NJ.

 

we have had meets in jersey as long as meets are properly organized and not strung together attendance will be on par and people will have fun.

 

What I highlighted is part of the problem which I will touch on further at this round table..Remember back in the good old days on the NE forum there were zero members with titles yet we all got along. The NE forum was overseen by a non Neloc influence .. Adding 3, 5, 7, 9 in house members with "titles" only adds to the problem and imo that is when the downslide began. See all of you at the meet.

Just a suggestion...maybe a more neutral meeting location could be of some benefit in helping bring more memebers together. It seems like 90% of Neloc is or around NYC.

 

Guys, It is good to see alot of you recognize that there is definately a problem here and most of you seem to be committed to pointing it out. You all finally have a roundtable meet organized in which you can FINALLY discuss where NELOC has gotten off track and take measures to have everyone lend a hand to hoist it back to it's previous status. I am gonna have to ask that you guys keep this thread on topic,,, HOW CAN NELOC IMPROVE??,, as opposed to pointing out what it was like in the beginning. While it is important to recognize the past and reflect on the times that were there, we need to move forward because alot of the past members are no longer here,and/or long gone as far as any participation. We now have a whole new breed of people who need the influences and guidances of some of our long standing members to get in the right direction again. I do like to see some of the old pics/meets. Please start an OG reflections thread in order to show what it was, and what we need to strive for again. Keep the suggestions coming, and if you truly want to make a difference, make a very conscious effort to attend the roundtable meet.

It aint that hard. I-95 takes you int all of those areas. Ask this trucker, who knows for sure. LOL!! No, seriously, there have been plenty of meets in the South in which the North(mostly NY) has come down to attend, and consequently, I look forward to many meets in the North in which the South will reciprocate this year. Difference in 2 areas, which we will discuss, South does things mostly on Saturday. North does things mostly on Sunday. Working on a happy median. Like T stated, feel free to start a thread reminiscing on OG meets but let's stick to actual solutions, ideas or comments that have substance pertaining to the title of this thread "How Can NELOC Improve?". Even better please come and share them at the roundtable meet.

It's always interesting to see certain individuals throw stones at people who are actually doing something positive here in NELOC. Especially from individuals who by no means have put anywhere near the energy others have into NELOC. Let me clear the air regarding certain things, no one has any obligation or owes anything to anyone here. Those who feel they are discontent with NELOC yet don't proactively contribute to it, I ask one thing of you, ask yourself the question... "Why am I really here?".
