Anyone In Neloc Who Has Cingular/att
Alright alright this question has been brought up by alot of people
"What's happening day of the release of the iphone"
ALL OF A SUDDEN i get phone calls from EVERYONE about this Iphone...this is the deal
My manager has just informed us on what is going to happen once the iphone comes out...
THE 29TH (DO NOT COME IN THE MORNING! WE WILL NOT HAVE IT!)
phones will come in at 5 o'clock
we will shut the store down at 4
SUPPOSEDLY they will be delivered by a small independent carrier directly from microsoft themselves...
(there has been too many packages missing at major corporations such as ups or fedex and microsoft does not want to take that chance)
store will REOPEN at 6
first come first serve... i CANNOT hold ANY... I AM SORRY
i am also sorry for not returning any phone calls...

According to the features list it does have SMS.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/phone/
"iPhone includes an SMS application with a predictive QWERTY soft keyboard that prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than the small plastic keyboards on many smartphones."

The price of Apple's iPhone and the cost of switching to AT&T's wireless service could put a dent in sales of the highly anticipated gadget.
Though about 60% of those surveyed by research firm IDC were interested in the combination mobile phone and music player, just 10% said they might it at full price when it goes on sale June 29.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said he expects to sell 10 million iPhones in 2008. Two versions of the device, costing $499 and $599, will be offered exclusively for use on AT&T's network under a two-year contract.
About 18% of respondents said they would buy the iPhone if it were priced under $299, and 17% said they would buy one if it were offered by their current mobile service provider, IDC said.
The AT&T network the iPhone will connect to may also affect the product's success, according to IDC. The iPhone will be capable of connecting to AT&T's EDGE network, which doesn't carry data as fast as so-called third-generation systems.
Apple shares fell $1.43 to $123.66. They had gained 47% this year before yesterday.

my opinion 3G sucks right now
it was launched months ago... and is still relatively new... until they fix all the bugs i wouldn't depend on it personally
one thing bad about the 3g network right now is being that they're only available in certain areas if you step out of the 3g area... your 3g device could downshift back to the EDGE service (70-170kb/s) which is a more reliable internet service.... but when you step back into a 3g network the device cannot automatically upshift itself therefore you would need to turn off the device and turn back on the device to get 3G.
3G is also only running off of the 1900mhz frequency... bad thing about that is when YOU are out and about it works great but when you are indoors...not so much... why that is.....is because the US works with 850/1900mhz frequencies....850 which reception can penetrate through walls alot better are reserved for our voice calls... the company did not want to launch the 3g on 850 because they didn't want their data network to affect voice calls... so they put it on the 1900 freq...
uh kinda lost where i was going..... SMS will work with the iphone.
NERD!!!
lol, thanks for the info Jimmy. I still don't see why an intelligent person (or semi) would pay $600 for a phone they know only costs $250 to make. Just wait a couple of months and the price will very likely come down before Christmas. Plus like you said, they've still got some bugs to work out. It doesn't pay to be 'first' in this case.
3G is broadband speeds on your phone...speeds ranging anywhere from 600-1100kb/s..... 3G only works in CERTAIN areas though...mostly major metropolitan areas at the moment...

ditto to that papi, im fine with my blackjack right now
. but i dont think the iphone is cheap to produce, not many phones have touchscreen and i think this is the first (correct me if im wrong). probably cost like 400-500 to make and their just trying to make a profit.
