Default I'm SOOOO Freakin Pissed

...you would not believe. Veins are popping out of my neck.

OK, so my car has been in the garage for 3 months. OK, so it's not the clean, eat-off-it style that it usually is. OK, so I ripped off my front window 50% tint just so I could get thru NJ free inspection, and spent an hour last night removing the adhesive....
SOoooo I get to the inspection station today, and they FAIL the car for having --- wait --- wait --- wait --- Blue LED interior lights in the doors. WTF? WTF? EVERYTHING else passed, even with all the mods, the exhaust noise, etc. I didn't even know NJ had any law about what color light you could have INSIDE the car. To make it worse, the guy slaps the REJECTED sticker on (which makes you feel like an absolute freaking moron at that point), then tells me it's because I have NEON lights in the car. Huh? They're LEDs, bud. He's not buyin it, doesn't matter at that point anyway.
So now I get to spend 15 mins putting the white bulbs back in, then put the blue back anyway after it passes.
Don't these guys have anything better to do than to fail people for BS???? 2 years ago I tried to slip the tint by them, but failed. Now this.
My Sirius receiver has a brighter blue light in it than the door lights. Ridiculous. I'll be paying for private inspection from now on.
I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to show up to tell me I got punk'd....

Yeah, in Jersey they have large, long garage bays at the motor vehicle centers. Free of charge, you pull in, they check a whole bunch of stuff in sequence, then do a dyno test, then brakes. You can get thru in as little as 15 mins, or 2 hours if they're backed up. It does eliminate the hassle in PA of having to make an appointment at a private garage, then them telling you you need tires, or brake pads, etc, so they can sell you something.

Oops, did I mention they wasted 1.5 hours of my time with this today?

You got to be kidding me. I know you can't pump your own gas in Jersey, but this is ridiculous. NJ gets

Maryland is bad too. Virginia's worse though. But I have heard utter horror stories from my PA friends. On the east coast, PA seems to have the toughest inspection process I have heard of. I no longer complain about Maryland.

But we definitely don't have no free inspections.

Darwin awards what?!? Except he'd take you and half a block with him

What about the jerks that pump your gas and top off too much? or the guy that pulls the pump out without waiting after pumping and drips gas all down your paint only for you to find it when you get home and then can't clean it off? JERKS!!! A lot of places around me on Long Island are full serve only, I ALWAYS pump my own, even if I have to go to a full serve place I will get out and pump and tell the attendant to ****** off or I can go to a different station. They always back off.

I always pump my own gas, even in NJ. I don't trust those attendees. When in Jersey, I always pull up, immediately jump out the car, and tell them, "I got it." If they insist on doing it, I just leave. But it's rare that they do.

Maryland isn't that bad. Don't forget Kevin we only have 1 inspection after that is emissions every 2 years. And from the last 4 emissions test I had on all my vehicles, they just drive them through the building without testing them. Va you have to have safety inspection like every year and maryland you don't.

You're right. I USED to complain....until I heard about the VA rules, and the PA rules are simply ridiculous if you're into modding cars.

I live in PA and don't understand what you guys are talking about ?

I call my shop, make an appointment, take the car in, leave it there for a couple hours, come back and pick it up. It always passes even with all my mods.

Never had a hassle yet except when my brakes were worn. He told me to replace them or else he couldn't pass inspection. So I got them changed right then and there. No big deal.
