I got a 98 GS400 and i'm in Flushing Queens. I drive alot to Brooklyn and into the City... so LIE and BQE are major ones for me...
I got stock 17s now and I want to either get 18s or 19s (MRR HR2's from D2 Autosport). They got a very nice deal on them right now.
But my boss has a z4, lighter than a gs4 obvious, running 19s, and he changed his tires 3 times this year already. and they bubble, and all that other stuff.
Should I get 18s just to be safer from flats and bent rims?
Vote, and put down some input if you'd like. Thanks!
Hey, another NELOC member in Flushing! Most of us try to be conservative and buy 18's, but ultimately upgrade to 19's. But you really need to invest in a good set of forged wheels. Cheap cast wheels will bend regardless of rim size.
I love the 20's but like you , I am on those roads everyday. I did the 18" Blitz and called it a day. And I still have bent them twice, once in city other in Astoria, sucks.
went from 18s to 19s. i drive really careful, but i still hit some potholes pretty hard every once in a while, theres only so much you can avoid. dont mean to jack your thread but: how do you know when your wheels bent?
Any rim with low profile tires are suceptible to bending do to poholes. There are members on here with 5k rims that were damaged do to pot holes. You just have to drive with care especially in the rain.
and i if i should get 18s, you think i can get away with cast or go with forged?
Forged wheels are supposed to be stonger go with those if your budget permits. Take a look at GS member Hameed's car. He is running 18 inchers that are forged . Looks great
