Hi,

Did you ever resolve this issue? I have a 1998 LS400 with the exact same problem!

Thanks, David

So, If I understand your comments, you are saying it is the sensor that is my problem? Is this your statement?

Yes.

Unfortunately, I do not know the location of the sensor in the 1998 LS400.

your room air temp sensor is located in your lower dash panel below the steering wheel.

Yes, I know where the sensor is now. Thanks. I hope this is the problem. Remember, the AC unit will blow hot air (drivers side only?) even if the AC/Heater is switched to "Off". This leads me to believe it is more than just the "room temp sensor", but I may be wrong.

I am a bit peeved at my mechanic (who I have used for a long time) who charged me $300 to "diagnose problem, and reset AC unit". He then showed me how COLD the unit blows when set to MAX COLD. Very good, but it blows very HOT air if I switch temp gauge from MAX COLD to 66 degrees. I showed him the issue and he is "researching" the problem but has failed to get back to me (and I am still out $300!!) Perhaps I should look for a new mechanic....

I may "swallow" the $300 and take to a Dealer to check the room sensor.

Thanks Again, David
