Just ordered my first impact wrench. Overkill? Decent Price?
I was wondering if this was overkill and cancel my order? I ordered a Dewalt DCF894 Detent from Home Depot https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-2...230C/306163940. When comparing prices to amazon, and seeing what this comes with, I feel that this is a decent price at $199.
I plan on using this for swapping wheels and some suspension work.
Is this impact wrench overkill, or would I be just as happy with a Ryobi? I've had experience with using a friend's Ryobi drill once and although its not an impact wrench, I was happy with its service.
Thanks.

We’ve had several including a dewalt, for infrequent/occasional use this probably will be fine. If you already have other dewalt stuff that uses the same battery that’s a good reason to get one as well.
We use one heavily on my wife’s race car so got a higher end snap on. Key for us is enough torque to break lugs free from the wheel (and other stuck stuff). I do think that dewalt looks a bit on the light end of torque so be sure to test it’ll do that. Otherwise you are missing out a good bit on the value of one of these guns if you still have to use a breaker bar or wrench to get the lugs loose before using the gun.
lowes has aN inexpensive 1/2 inch kobalt impact with pretty good specs you might want to consider as well that goes on sale pretty often

also make sure once you get one that you don’t just power the lugs on with it; it’ll over tighten them. Either get a torque stick or tighten to just one click and finish off with a proper torque wrench.

I am new here. I work part time at an independent garage. All 3 mechanics use Milwaukee impacts if not using air. I was an Electrician then I got hurt and am on disability and work at the shop as a service writer. I used Milwaukee. Carpenters I know liked DeWalt, but always had a new one. You do get what you pay for
Appreciate the suggestions! I dug a bit deeper and realized I would be buying into an ecosystem of sorts with this purchase. I ended up going with the Milwaukee 2860 1/2 inch detent.
Thank you!

also a good brand and good specs on that one! Think it will do well
Delivering 450 ft. lbs. Fastening torque and 600 ft. lbs. Nut-Busting torque, the M18 FUEL Mid-Torque Impact Wrench is more powerful while also being up to 4 in. shorter and up to 2 lbs. lighter than many competitive Impact Wrenches.
