Yeah, thats where my problem is starting, it has blown back all the way to the AFM. That's why i took a pic of the TB. Pretty nasty. Doesn't burn oil or anything though. dunno if i am willing to remove the intake, but i am doing a valve job soon so i might dive in head first.

The PCV valve is the thing sticking out of your driver's side valve cover connected to the intake manifold with a rubber tube. It is a relatively inexpensive part and should be changed since you do not know the previous maintanence. This might alleviate your blow-by/blow-back problem.
If you are not burning oil, why do you need a valve job? Did a leak-down test show a leaking valve? Most times a leaking valve will blow the valve seal which means you will be burning oil.
