home tune-up
Hi i was wanting to give my 92 es300 with 198000 miles i lil tune up. what fluids do every one suggest and what things should i do? also i would like to detail the entire car any good suggestions? thanx
tbone,
What previous service has been done? t-belt, water pump, t-belt tensioner, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air/fuel/oil filters, serpentine belt, cam seals, crank seal, radiator fluid should have been done back at 180k miles. If not done yet, there's where you want to start. I would use the lightest weight oil that doesn't burn. If you're not losing any oil with 5w30, stick with it. If you are go to a heavier weight. It's going to be trial and error here. Dextron II for your tranny, been reading that ES have fragile trannys.... if the fluid comes out dark red, do a couple changes back to back.. ( 3-4x with 10 miles driven between changes ) then continue with a change once a week/month until you get a nice red color coming out ( or pay for a tranny flush at a qualified shop ). It's got some high mileage so I would reccomend continued ATF changes 7500/15,000 miles ( once or twice a year ).
Make sure you buy the intake manifold gasket when you do the rear 3 spark plugs.
Regards
