Default Car detailing \ New mats

After this mess

It was time to get things detailed. Do you tips the guys? The place I take it to charges $99 inside and out, about a 4 hour job. This pop mess with the ivory interior sucked!!

Also, how often do you buy new mats? I pick them up every spring....

If they did a good job, drop them 10.. it'll make their day. On the other hand, if you don't feel they deserve it, then don't worry about it.

Everyone wants a tip these days, I was just wondering what others do. I am far from a cheap tipper, I just didn't know if these guys should get tips or not. Thanks!

Default My take ...

I have some customer's that always tip, usually $5, and others that never do. I don't take it personally either way, and I don't expect it. I really might not be the "norm" though, that way. I think it should be up to you and if you feel like someone was just "going through the motions'" and getting the car done just to do another one, or really doing whatever it takes to make the car right.

As far as it being obligatory, I suppose it is an accepted thing generally, and expected by most detailers and the carwash guys. But I would prefer to be tipped for going above and beyond if someone feels I did (I try to), not just for doing my job. Cheers.

i have two sets of mats. a winter set, and a summer set. the winter set were the ones that i got when i originally purchased the vehicle (used). in addition, i bought a set of plastic mats (target/k-mart/etc) with
the grooves to catch/hold snow/dirt in the winter, and a set of plastic, flat, clear mats to go over the summer ones. this way, the summer ones (which i bought new) stay new, and the old ones don't get any older.

i wouldn't tip. EVERYplace is wanting a tip right now. sbarro in the mall of america has a tip cup????
would that qualify for the sports illustrated's "this weeks sign that apocolypse is upon us?" (or however
they phrase it).
