Default transmission issue

my 2002 Lexus rx300 has 265k miles and have no issues at all until now .. the transmission has failed. my mechanic quoted me a price $3400 to rebuild mine with a 24 month warranty. I need suggestions please single mom tight budget !! thanks in advance

Get another quote.
You can probably get another good condition used (with low mileage) transmission put in for much less...maybe around $1500??

I also suggest getting another quote. The used transmission route is an alternative, but you run the risk of running into another troubled transmission. If you are able to have a complete history of the used transmission or perhaps a warranty on parts and labor for X mileage, that would make it less risky.
