Default Winter Oil Weight?

It's unusually cold here in the North East. Should /could I go to a thinner oil until the weather gets back to normal temps?

Thanks in advance.

5w30 should be fine, I used it year round when I had to drive mine in the winter.

-25C is not uncommon where I live, every car I've owned used 5W-30 synthetic. It's the synthetic that makes a huge difference in the cold.

If you're using synthetic, it should be fine using the recommended SAE grade all year round. I have 0W20 and its quite thin, so i just use it all year round.
