Default PS Return Hose ?

1993 LS400. Anyone know why the Lexus PS return hose is so expensive (iron toad asking $88 !) It is about 8 inches long, low pressure, no integral fittings - just a simple piece of low pressure formed hose. Autozone bulk PS return hose is less then $1.00 a foot. What about using that and just making it a little longer to make the bend (dressing/clamping it properly of course) ??

Default Additional info

Additional info:

The Gates web site (www.gates.com) lists their product 350010 as a replacement PS return hose for my 1993 LS400

Anyone else use bulk PS return hose as opposed to the $88 lexus hose ?

I actually used a heater hose for PS return hose application in my Toyota van. It's been a good 8 years already and it is still doing the job. I would think that bulk PS return hose would be better than what I did.

Interesting ! I think one of the issues is oil resistance, sounds like the type of heater hose you used happened to have oil resistance and a high enough temp rating - I understand that not all do. Thanks for the info.
