Default California Emissions

Anyone know if the additional emission control systems in California cars cause any maintenance issues. In my 1993 LS 400 I noticed there is an additional Cat converter and an air injector pump. I was wondering if the additional flow restriction might make the engine run hotter causing more wear or cracks ? ? Is there any difference in performance ? Appreciate any coments - I just bought a 1993 LS 400 in New Jersey but I found out it is a California car.

Thanks - Herm

No.

In 1993-1994 I believe all LS400s were built with the electric air pump and air injection. The only added for cali was the egr temp sensor and the engine programming was different. There is nothing about a cali car that would cause the engine parts to wear faster.

Default Cat Converter?

Thanks for the info -

The service manual indicates California cars had a third Cat converter after the exhaust pipes join instead of what looks like a resonator or muffler. Anyone have further info/comment on this ?

Thanks - Herm
