60000 mile service on 2002 LX470
I live near Palm Springs, CA and just got a quote of $900 for the 60,000 mile service from the local dealer here. The service does not include changing the brake fluid, the suspension fluid or repacking the front wheel bearings as called for in the manual.
This seems like a high price to me. Is this what others have been experiencing? Does anyone know of a GOOD mechanic in the Southern California area who could perform this service. I don't mind paying for quality work, but my experience with the local dealer, Desert Lexus has not been the best.

As bad as that sounds, local NorCal quotes for a GS 60K service run about $800-$1000. I hate to think what my LX will cost when the time comes. It does seem strange that they are missing some major, manual specified services -- I'd check around as both the price and actual service do vary between dealers.

I did look around. I went to Lexus of Glendale. They charged me $540 and did ALL of the suggested service items. Not only that, they found the reason for a noise that was in the engine area. I had complained to Desert Lexus many times of this noise, and they advised that is was normal.
Lexus of Glendale found a broken exhaust manifold that was leaking and fixed it under warranty (64,000 miles). If I had gone to Desert Lexus I probably would not have it fixed and discovered it later, after the 70,000 mile warranty expired.
Lexus of Glendale did a great job. I will continue to travel the extra 120 miles each way for my major service on both the LX470 and the SC430.
