So is it better to get a used transmission which I found a 2005 transmission with 51k miles for $770. Or is it better to just rebuild mine?

Youre best off getting a new transmission from Lexus, mainly because you will then have a warranty. If you buy a used transmission, you're rolling the dice, and will be responsible if that one fails as well. BTW, a 2005 transmission will not fit in your 2006.

Anyone know what yrs Lexus ES had the trans problems and what miles they generally started having them at? Was it mainly just 2007 yr or several yrs?
Thanks
